For the past six years I have been employed in the apparel design and printing industry. Starting as a jr. designer and working my way up to art director for a large promotional company in Massachusetts, I have become accustomed to a fast-paced, deadline-focused work environment. I headed a true multi-tasking art department -- on the one hand, developing graphics for large-volume fashion and sportswear retailers while on the other, overseeing the application of those designs from prepress color separating to final production. This part of the department duties required an innovative approach to each new job and a willingness to incorporate and utilize the latest available technologies. This combination of creative and technical problem solving was very appealing to me as a graphic designer, as I believe that any good design solution requires a balance of intellectual and aesthetic thought processes.
While the bulk of my professional experience has been with screenprint application, I still like to consider myself a versatile graphic designer. At this point in my career I am seeking more opportunities to expand my knowledge and experience, not only in traditional print design, but with interactive and web-based media as well. This website, while showcasing what I have been doing for the past several years, is also a sample in itself of this new direction for me. Its development and design has been an exciting learning experience, and I look forward to the possibilties and challenges that lie ahead. |
